Happy 2009!

The Holiday roller coaster ride has finally come to a screeching halt. I am happy to resume life as usual around here. I love that time of year but it always feels like I'm teetering on the edge of a breakdown. It was a really simple holiday. Spent the Christmas week in Lancaster and New Years in Pittsburgh. This past week in Pittsburgh had me again considering the possibility of us moving there full-time. ALL of us. I always enjoy the weeks we spend there throughout the year and of course the whole summer, but I usually leave there feeling happy to get back to Lancaster. The main reason I've stayed in Lancaster has been M1's school. She loves her school and the family that they have grown into. However, it takes a half hour to get there and even with the carpool it averages a half tank of gas every week. Where would she go to school in Pittsburgh? Ok, so the Waldorf school is three blocks away.
Pittsburgh,1: Lancaster,0

The other main pain I have with moving is my house. I really like UncleDad's house and I think it would be a great home for us all full-time. I LOVE my home though. It's the house that Kurt died in and C3 was born in. It's my first home. This is my favorite neighborhood in Lancaster. My whole family spent months remodeling it for me. Yes, and lets not get me started on leaving my family back in Lancaster.
Score: Tied
I could think in circles like this for hours.
And I have.

But this past visit to Pittsburgh I really opened my eyes and looked around. I imagined what it would be like if we fixed up the house there. If we actually decorated and lived there instead of using it as a pit stop between UncleDad's work and Lancaster. I started to make a list of things that I felt would HAVE to be improved before we could all officially move in. Most importantly we reopened the conversation with M1 about the possibilities of change (her biggest fear of all). M2 is still young enough to not care about a move (aside from the impact it will have on her weekly donut dates with Pop Pop). M1 was very upset... for about a day and then all of the sudden she started to feel like she might be open to it after all.

I love your house too. No mention of Aunt or Tiny on the Pittsburgh side- burn.

speaking as someone who has lived both places now - i totally get your conundrum. but pgh has it going on, man. it's a great town and i'm sure you'd make awesome connections through waldorf and lots of other good orgs in the east end. good luck figuring it out!

We are so close to Pittsburgh! Baby Lemon and the littlest Lumpkin could be friends!

Change can be good, I am coming to find... And maybe, if you made the move, you'd discover that the people who move into your beloved Lancaster house would love it just as much as you have...
